Stirling University RAG Head Shaving Fundraiser, 25 Feb 2011

Eilidh's aunt, Simone and dad, Gordon at the head shaving fundraiser

This message was sent by Emma McLean, RAG Vice President
on behalf of Cannon Dickson, RAG President

The day of our head shave has now been and gone but we are very pleased to report that it was very much a success. Even before the event had actually began people had already turned up at our stand in the main area of the university eagerly awaiting the start. The crowd that turned up were good sports, cheering on those who got their hair shaved off.

Eilidh's 500 Heroes - Brides Turn Back the Clock for Charity

Nadine Grant who had pledged to be one of Eilidh's 500 Heroes organized a fundraiser in February, where her and a bunch of friends who are now young mum's would dress up in their own wedding dresses for a laugh and raise money for charity.

From the money raised, £100 was pledged to the Eilidh Brown Memorial Fund's 500 Heroes Appeal.  Nadine said, she and her friends had enjoyed getting all dressed up on their wedding days.

“We’re all mums now with young children and we wondered if we’d still be able to fit into our wedding dresses.  Once we decided to go ahead with it, the first step for a few of us was the gym."

Eilidh's 500 Heroes Appeal - Tom Urie, One of the Stars' From the Eilidh Brown Concert Becomes One of Eilidh's Heroes

Tom Urie at the Eilidh Brown Memorial Concert

Eilidh's 500 Heroes is an appeal launched by the Eilidh Brown Memorial Fund in January 2011 to look for 500 heroes to donate or pledge to raise £100 or more for this special appeal over the next year. Those who raise £100 or more will be remembered forever in a specially produced commemorative stone with each person's name inscribed. The stone will be a permanent fixture in the respite home we aim to build.

Tom Urie, one of the stars from the Eilidh Brown Memorial Concert was one of the first to make a pledge and is donating £1 from every sale of his latest album available from iTunes to the memorial fund.

£15,000 raised from the Eilidh Brown Memorial Concert

Eilidh's family on stage with her dad, Gordon when he gave his thank you speech

The Eilidh Brown Memorial Concert on 15 Jan 2011, was a star-studded night, where Jon Fratelli got people on their feet dancing and singing along, and Lord of the Rings star, Billy Boyd and his band 'Beecake', played to a sell out crowd raising £15,000 for the Eilidh Brown Memorial Fund. It was a fitting tribute to Eilidh's inspiring spirit, and a fantastic start towards our effort to raise funds to build a respite home in Stirling, Scotland for other families with children suffering from cancer. Eilidh's dad Gordon said:
"It was just unbelievable. To see it all coming together on the night was fantastic. There were lots of tears but lots of laughs as well."
